Tax Estimate Disclaimer
1. What Filed's Tax Estimates Are
Filed calculates estimated tax figures based on:
- The income and expense data you enter into the app
- Standard Irish tax rules for sole traders as published by Revenue Commissioners
- Your stated personal circumstances (marital status, PAYE income, RCT status)
- Standard tax credits applicable to self-employed individuals
These estimates are designed to give you a working approximation of your likely tax liability so you can set aside an appropriate amount throughout the year.
2. What Filed's Tax Estimates Are Not
Tax estimates produced by Filed:
- Are not a formal tax calculation or assessment
- Are not guaranteed to match your actual Revenue liability
- Do not account for all possible personal allowances, reliefs, or deductions
- Do not take into account prior year losses
- Do not account for capital gains tax obligations
- Do not account for complex situations involving multiple income sources or foreign income
- Are based on tax rules current at the time of calculation and may not reflect mid-year Revenue changes
- Are only as accurate as the data you enter — incorrect data will produce incorrect estimates
3. Annual Budget Changes
Irish tax bands, credits, and rates are set by the Government in the annual Budget, typically in October each year. Filed updates its calculation rules after each Budget, but:
- There may be a delay between a Budget announcement and Filed's update
- Emergency or mid-year changes may not be reflected immediately
- Filed will notify users of significant calculation changes in-app
